Jews, Christians and Muslims in Europe: Modern Challenges

This three-part course focuses on the relationships between Jews, Christians and Muslims and their impact in modern Europe, looking at their history, culture and issues of citizenship.

Is there more to Jewish history in Europe than the Holocaust? Is the presence of Muslims in Europe a new phenomenon spanning only the last few decades? How have Jews, Christians and Muslims influenced European culture? Is constructive coexistence possible? Within this course students will be encouraged to address challenging questions, some easier to answer than others, through case studies and set reading.

The course is taught at a final-year undergraduate level and the e-learning approach allows you to study wherever and whenever you choose via the internet. With the support of Woolf Institute tutors, you will work both individually and jointly with other students.

Following an online induction week, each module is taught over four weeks during which you will receive set reading and various assignments online. Towards the end of the course you also have the option of preparing an essay under the supervision of one of our tutors.

The course fee is £350. Bursaries are available depending on academic or professional merit and financial circumstances. On completion of the course you will be awarded a Woolf Institute Certificate. If you wish to use this course as a stepping stone to further studies, our tutors can advise you and may be able to provide academic references.
